Have you ever worked for a company and had a semblance of comfort, but something was wrong with your job? Whether it is your boss, your environment or your tasks, something is not to your liking in your environment, but you accept to live with this inconvenience? For a long time, you have accepted an uncomfortable comfort because the routine is reassuring. Perhaps you still find yourself in that uncomfortable comfort? Perhaps you live in comfortable discomfort instead? You don’t like your job and your environment, but the salary is good and you have access to a very good pension fund? Whatever the reasons and circumstances, you should not accept a job that does not suit you. A feeling of emptiness, boredom or meaninglessness can overtake you and this can have an impact on all areas of your life. It can also lead to frustration, regret, exhaustion, lost opportunity, etc.
Many people refuse to change jobs or fields because of the education they have received or the many years of experience they have gained with the same company. However, these same people still have many years of work ahead of them so why do they force themselves to live in an environment in which they are more or less comfortable? We only have one life to live, so why not live it to the fullest, doing something we love?
Benefits, pension fund, salary are all elements that should not be a priority when we choose a job. These factors are even more superfluous as reasons to stay in a job that we are not 100% comfortable in. Plus, it’s never too late to find your dream career. You are not too old to be happy in what you do! Not sure? Take a chance! It’s okay if your next job still isn’t the right one! There are so many opportunities in today’s work world! Another door will open, guaranteed! Avoid the “what ifs” and face the unknown. There are so many great opportunities waiting for you!
A good job should be a mix of tasks that you feel competent in and that you like and a good work environment (atmosphere, colleagues, boss, etc.). The boss, even if he is not often present and is not permanently with us, can play a very big role in the employees’ feeling of belonging. The way the boss manages his employees and makes demands can greatly affect the comfort of employees in the organization.
In short, everyone has the right to comfort. The job you have greatly defines your life and how you see it. So don’t be afraid of change and take every opportunity that comes your way! You deserve the best, don’t settle for less!
